Description
Crafted in Switzerland by Reuge, this elegant musical jewelry box combines fine cabinetmaking with one of the world’s most respected mechanical music movements.
The lid features a floral marquetry design set against a warm cream-colored field and framed by contrasting wood trim. Opening the box reveals a fitted pink-lined jewelry compartment with a concealed Reuge movement housed beneath a lift-out tray. The original key remains in place.
Founded in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland in 1865, Reuge became known for producing some of the finest mechanical music boxes in the world. Their movements were assembled and tuned by skilled craftsmen, creating a clear, resonant sound that distinguished the brand from mass-produced alternatives.
This example measures approximately 7″ wide × 5″ deep × 3.25″ high, making it suitable for display on a dresser, vanity, bookshelf, or desk. It functions equally well as a jewelry box and as a decorative object representing a long tradition of Swiss mechanical craftsmanship.
