Our quaint little community received its name from our founder Amos Orton whose grist mill inspired people to settle and build in this area. A charming small-town experience, we take pride in remaining an All-American, authentic village that has been a hub of activity for 175 years.

Our small-town character and walkable downtown are designed at a pedestrian scale. When you visit our downtown, you’ll find historic character, locally owned, unique shops, a walking friendly environment and welcoming places for visitors to stroll, sit, linger and dine downtown.
