Downtown Ortonville

Ortonville is a quaint and picturesque village nestled in the heart of Oakland County. The village is characterized by its well-preserved downtown area, featuring a delightful array of antique shops, cozy cafes, and local businesses that reflect the town’s rich heritage. History

Established in the mid-19th century, the village was named after Amos Orton, an influential figure who established a sawmill and gristmill in the area, which became central to the community's development. Officially platted in 1848, Ortonville quickly grew as a hub for local agriculture and commerce.

Ortonville has retained much of its historical charm while evolving into a vibrant and welcoming community. Ortonville received its name from our founder Amos Orton whose grist mill inspired people to settle and build in this area. A charming small-town experience.

The Ortonville DDA is a group of volunteers who are highly engaged, dedicated, and driven. We work with our community members and provide resources and tools to help them succeed in improving the quality of life in our downtown. We collaborate with others to preserve our character, natural resources and history, while creating beautiful gathering spaces for families, friends, and neighbors to come together in to create memories. We help build successful businesses that thrive, enhance our downtown, and provide interest to our already quaint village. Our focus is on creating a strong, vibrant, high quality downtown area that serves the needs and desires of our community.
